Kristin Player and Katelynn Donovan each netted one goal apiece to lead the UNC Greensboro women's soccer team to a 2-1 win over Virginia Commonwealth in the final game of the NC State/Residence Inn North Tournament.
Third-ranked North Carolina bounced back from a Friday night loss to fifth-ranked Notre Dame by scoring two goals in each half in a 4-0 win over Kentucky before 1,242 fans at Fetzer Field Sunday afternoon in the final game of the 2008 Nike Carolina Classic. Junior forward Casey Nogueira scored twice for the Tar Heels and freshman forward Merritt Mathias and junior midfielder Tobin Heath each had their first goals of the year for UNC.
GREENSBORO, NC – It was a pair of nail biters on the final day of men's soccer action at the UNCG Kickoff Classic as Winthrop topped Elon in overtime, 2-1, and Old Dominion held off UNCG, 2-1, Sunday afternoon at UNCG Soccer Stadium.
